Bench Installations Spring 2025
During May 2025, four new benches will be installed on Mitcham Common. These are replacing benches that have come to the end of their life. The locations are on the map below.
Depending on weather conditions, hay-cutting will start on 15th July. To facilitate large vehicle access, Mill House Ecology Centre car park will be closed on the 16th and 17th July.
In the near future the footpath running from the corner of Croydon Road, by the BP garage, to the bottom of Galpins Road will be upgraded. Gorse to the west of 7 islands pond will be cleared as part of the acid grassland restoration program. The map below details the location. 7 islands scrub clearance map
Over the next month soil will be moved from a stockpile near 7 islands pond to reinforce several bunds around the edge of the Common.
