A new bin has been installed on the footpath linking Brookmead Road and Redhouse Road (see photo). This is initially for a trial period. If the bin gets used for dumping domestic rubbish, it will be removed.
The bin near Southampton Gardens has been removed because it was being used for dumping domestic rubbish.
Over the next few weeks, selected areas of bramble will be cut. Areas included are on Bidders, Mill House, 7 islands and Gunsite subsites. This will facilitate the regeneration of grassland.
During May 2025, four new benches will be installed on Mitcham Common. These are replacing benches that have come to the end of their life. The locations are on the map below.
A contractor is currently undertaking acid grass clearance on 7 islands, Bidders and Golf course sub-sites. This is to maintain and enhance the important acid grass coverage.
At the end of January work will commence on clearing scrub growing on the side of the pond facing out towards the Common. The project will be undertaken in stages and continue over the next 12-18 month period.
Before the end of March 2026 the following tree works will be carried out:
