Haymaking On The Common

Volunteers clear crater site
Today volunteers cleared the bomb crater site on the 7 islands pond sub site as part of the acid grassland management program.
Spraying
Spraying is taking place on Mitcham Common 7 islands near Cedars Avenue and on Bidders subsites on 28th and 29th May. This is to control bramble and tree regeneration.
Arthurs Pond Project
Arthurs Pond has been managed to allow a dense barrier of scrub woodland to develop on its roadside edges. This was in direct response to multiple incidents of fly-tipping in the body of the pond in the 1990s and before. This enhancement proposal will consider tree and shrub growth.
