On Tuesday 18 August a large diameter water main running over the Fairsite burst and flooded much of the surrounding area.
Thames Water are currently onsite repairing the pipework, but at the time of writing it’s unknown how long the repair will take.
Much of the surrounding land is likely to remain underwater for the next week or so.
Over the next month soil will be moved from a stockpile near 7 islands pond to reinforce several bunds around the edge of the Common.
Due to financial pressure the car park will not now open until 10am at weekends
A new bin has been installed on the footpath linking Brookmead Road and Redhouse Road (see photo). This is initially for a trial period. If the bin gets used for dumping domestic rubbish, it will be removed. The bin near Southampton Gardens has been removed because it was being used for dumping domestic rubbish.
