Croydon Rd Shared Path
On 18th January 2016 Merton Council will commence work on a shared-use (pedestrians and cyclists) path alongside Croydon Road between Carshalton Road and the Borough boundary with Croydon. The works are funded by TfL and scheduled to last a maximum of 27 weeks.
The path will be 3 metres wide and will run parallel to the carriageway along the northern side of Croydon Road. The existing kerb-line will be build out by approximately 1.5 metres into the carriageway and 1.5 metres into the Common. Material will consist of a typical black top surface but with stone chippings surface finish which will be buff to grey in colour.
During construction 2-way traffic will be maintained to minimise the impact of the works.
The speed limit will be reduced from 40 mph to 30 mph during the works and it is also proposed to reduce the speed limit to 30 mph on a permanent basis upon completion of the scheme.
